Jackson Township is one of the largest municipalities in New Jersey by land area, in northwestern Ocean County. It's home to Six Flags Great Adventure, and much of its land is rural or within the Pinelands, while its northern and central areas have grown into suburban neighborhoods.

The homes

Jackson offers a wide range: newer suburban subdivisions, 55+ active-adult communities, older homes on larger lots, and rural properties with wells and septic in the southern and western sections, where New Jersey Pinelands Commission rules can apply. Rural properties can bring appraisal questions about acreage, outbuildings and comparable sales.

Close to the base

Jackson sits next to the Lakehurst section of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, and the McGuire and Dix sections are reachable by county roads to the west, so many service members, civilian employees and veterans live here. Getting around

I-195 runs along the north side of the township toward Trenton and the shore, and Routes 537, 571 and 528 connect to Freehold, Toms River and the base. The Garden State Parkway is a short drive east.
