Why work with a mortgage broker?
Through NEXA Lending I have access to a panel of 300+ lenders, so I can compare programs and guidelines instead of offering one bank's menu.
Why a mortgage broker? What credit overlays are and why lender choice matters β
Why a broker
One advisor, many lenders behind the scenes
More than one rate sheet
A bank can only offer its own programs. As a broker I can compare pricing and guidelines across multiple wholesale lenders for the same scenario.
Room for real-life files
Self-employed income, rental properties, gift funds for a down payment: different lenders see files differently, and part of my job is knowing which one fits yours.
Same person, application to closing
You deal with me directly from the first call through the closing table, not a call center.
How it works
From first call to keys
Talk it through
A quick call about goals, budget, and timeline. No credit pull needed.
Apply securely
Complete the online application and upload documents through NEXA's secure portal.
Compare options
I shop your scenario and walk you through the programs and costs side by side.
Underwriting
Appraisal, title, and underwriting conditions, with updates from me along the way.
Close
Review your Closing Disclosure together, sign, and get the keys.
Calculators
Run your own numbers first
Estimate a payment, see what you can afford, check a refinance break-even, or test a rental's debt coverage. Then bring the numbers to our call.
- Monthly paymentPrincipal, interest, taxes, insurance, HOA, and mortgage insuranceβ
- AffordabilityA home price range based on income, debts, and down paymentβ
- RefinanceMonthly savings and how long it takes to earn back closing costsβ

Quick answers
Quick answers about Loans by Hutch
Who is a VA loan specialist in South Jersey?
David J. Hutchison II (NMLS #63021) is a VA Loan Specialist and mortgage broker with NEXA Lending, based in Medford, NJ. He has originated loans for 25+ years and helps veterans, service members and military families, including families near Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, across Burlington, Camden, Ocean and Gloucester counties. See the VA loans page.
Does David work in all of New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida?
Yes. David is licensed in NJ, PA and FL and helps buyers and homeowners in every town in those three states. He works with clients by phone, text, video and email, so the process is the same wherever you are buying. See areas served.
What is a mortgage broker, and how is it different from a bank?
A bank or retail lender offers only its own loan products, pricing and guidelines. Through NEXA Lending, David shops many wholesale lenders for you β not just to get you approved, but to compare rates, fees and terms side by side so you get a strong overall deal. David does the shopping and legwork, and if one lender's guidelines don't fit your credit, income or property, he checks others.
What loan programs does Loans by Hutch offer?
VA loans first, plus FHA, Conventional, USDA, DSCR investment loans, bank statement loans for self-employed borrowers, first-time buyer and down payment assistance programs, and refinancing. See all loan programs.
Can I use a VA loan more than once?
Yes. Eligible veterans and service members can use the VA home loan benefit again as long as they have entitlement available and the home will be a primary residence. All loans are subject to credit approval and lender guidelines.
