Bordentown City is a small, walkable historic town on the bluffs above the Delaware River, where Crosswicks Creek meets the river, with a lively Farnsworth Avenue downtown. Bordentown Township surrounds the city with suburban neighborhoods, townhouse communities and commercial areas.

Route 206 and the county roads lead south and east toward Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, a relatively short drive, so Bordentown suits military households where one spouse works on base and the other commutes north.
