Washington Township is the most populous municipality in Gloucester County and includes Turnersville and much of the Sewell area. It sits along the Black Horse Pike (Route 42) and Route 47, next to Glassboro, Deptford, Monroe and Gloucester Township. It's different from the several other Washington Townships in New Jersey.

Washington Township grew quickly from the 1960s on, so most of its housing is suburban: single-family subdivisions, townhouse communities and some condos, plus a few older and more rural properties. HOA dues matter in the townhouse and condo communities, and condo buyers should confirm the project works for their loan type before signing.

Getting around

Route 42 and the Atlantic City Expressway connect north toward Philadelphia and the bridges and south toward the shore, and Route 55 is close for trips south. Rowan University in neighboring Glassboro is a major local employer.

Who buys here

First-time buyers, growing families moving up and buyers coming from Pennsylvania and Camden County all look here. Veterans can use VA loans here too. JB McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst is farther away, but plenty of veterans live and buy in Gloucester County.
